• Rotoset HBL are virtually mineral oil free and dry solely by oxidation of the vegetable oil/hard resin of the ink formulation
• They have good printability and litho performance on sheet or web fed presses, particularly with images requiring little ink transfer, and the high colour strength make it possible to run thin ink films
• Most Rotoset HBL inks contain only small amounts of volatile ingredients. Disturbances in the laser printer caused by volatising or evaporating ink ingredients, and swelling of the burning-in roller are thus avoided
• However, compared with conventional mineral oil based inks the setting speed of Rotoset HBL inks is lower and time is required for the oxidation process to be fully completed to give the hard dry film. At least three to five days are necessary, depending on the number of colours and ink coverage
• Four colour process sets and the Pantone range of colours are available, backed by a full colour matching service

• Build-up of printing ink particles on the preheating plate and on fusing or pressure rollers
• Mechanical damage to the fusing roller, often coated with silicone resin, due to adhering printing ink and toner particles
• Swelling of rollers, caused by volatile components of printing inks, e.g. mineral oils
• Dirt on the burning-in roller marking in the printed image of forms
• Smoke and odour caused by volatising components of printing inks
• Insufficient adhesion or repelling of the toner powder on printed areas on the paper
